Inner Critic | Inner Wisdom Guidebook
Practices for recognizing your Inner Critic and nurturing your Inner Wisdom
My intention in creating this was to offer simple, imaginative, and applicable tools for those of you who live under the weight of your Inner Critic. For many folks, especially those with trauma, the Inner Critic is a cruel and relentless counterpart, and it doesn’t need to be.
This guidebook will gelp you learn to recognize the voice of fear without letting it lead, hear the wisdom of your intuition, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.
I came to these tools through my own personal journey with a Gestalt therapist of learning to be in relationship with my Inner Critic and professionally from supporting clients in this process since 2011. I’ve included the explorations and concepts that I utilize the most in my private practice and those which have had the greatest impact my clients.
This is not a replacement for working with professionals that can provide trauma-responsive and relational care, though it is a great adjunct to the work you are already doing.

I know what it means to live a life narrated and directed by an Inner Critic. Many years ago while training with a Gestalt therapist, I was invited to imagine a nurturing, compassionate part sitting in the empty chair opposite me. I spoke easily from my Inner Critic, but when asked to switch chairs and embody my compassionate self… I went blank; I mean full-on confused-still-body-brain-stalled-blank. I had no idea what a compassionate voice would say or feel like. My therapist stepped in, sat down and modeled what a wise, caring part could sound like. Wow!
My journey since then has highlighted some powerful tools that have helped me and my clients develop a relationship with the Inner Wise part, and this is what I am sharing in this guidebook.
